Roadside Towing FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

At Roadside Towing, we understand that being stuck on the side of the road can be stressful and confusing — especially if it’s your first time needing a tow. That’s why we’ve put together this handy list of frequently asked questions to help you understand how towing works, what to expect, and how we can help.

From pricing and passenger rules to insurance, storage, and cross-border transport, you’ll find clear answers to the most common towing questions our customers ask across Brisbane, Logan, Gold Coast and the wider South East Queensland region.

How much will it cost to tow my car?

Our towing fees vary depending on distance, vehicle type, and accessibility at pickup or drop-off.
For the most accurate price, give us a quick call on 0435 046 344 or request a quote through our online quote form.
We’ll give you an honest, no-surprise estimate on the spot.

Can I ride in the tow truck?

Yes — you can travel with your vehicle.
Our trucks can safely carry up to two (2) passengers, so you can ride along to the drop-off point or any nearby location.
Safety comes first, so we’ll confirm seating availability before loading.

Where will you take my vehicle?

If you’re covered by insurance after an accident, we’ll deliver your vehicle to your insurer’s preferred repairer.
If you choose your own workshop or home address, that’s fine too.
No need to rush — if the repairer is closed or you’re still deciding, we can store your vehicle securely in our Beenleigh holding yard until you’re ready.

Can you tow a car and trailer / caravan / boat together?

Absolutely. Our tilt tray tow trucks have a secondary hitch so we can carry your vehicle on the tray and tow your trailer behind.
If either has been damaged in an accident, we’ll assess it first to ensure it’s safe.
If needed, we can arrange a second truck to collect the trailer or return later once it’s safe to move.

Do you transport Tiny Homes?

Yes — we’re experienced with tiny house transport.
If your tiny home has wheels, we can tow it directly.
If it’s built on a solid base, we can load it onto our tilt tray for safe delivery.
Because of size and weight limits, give us a quick call to discuss details before moving day.

Can you move shipping containers?

No problem at all.
Our tilt tray tow trucks are fitted with container pins at each corner, allowing us to safely pull up and secure 20-foot containers for transport.
We can only carry empty or lightly loaded containers for weight safety reasons.

Can you tow across the QLD / NSW border?

Yes — we’re fully licensed in both Queensland and New South Wales.
That means we can legally collect or deliver your vehicle across the border.
Always check that your chosen towing company is licensed in both states — if they’re not, their insurance may not cover your vehicle during transit.

Who pays for towing and storage after an accident?

If you’re at fault, towing and storage costs are your responsibility unless covered by comprehensive insurance.
If another driver caused the crash, their insurer usually covers those costs.
If the other party is uninsured, your own insurer can often recover the expenses on your behalf.
When in doubt, give us a call — we can guide you through the process.

Is it legal to tow a car with a tow strap?

Technically yes — but it’s rarely the safest option.
Queensland Road Rules (sections 216, 294 and 295) require that:

  • The towed vehicle’s brakes and steering must work correctly
  • It’s only towed if safe to do so
  • It has working lights and indicators
  • Distances, mass limits, and driver rules are followed

Incorrect towing can damage gearboxes, drivelines, or even void insurance.
We always recommend using a professional tow truck to avoid fines and extra repairs.
